Pool Inspections
Pools that are permitted by the Board of Health are public, semipublic, special purpose and wading pools. The Board of Health sanitarians make periodic inspections of these pools within the town. The pools are governed under the State Sanitary Code: Chapter V, Minimum Standards for Swimming Pools.
The Board of Health requires that all pools have a successful bacteriological analysis taken from the pool prior to each seasons opening.
On January 1, 1999 a new mandate came into effect from the State of Massachusetts Department of Public Health. This mandate requires that pool supervisors of public and semipublic pools have successfully completed a course in the safe and effective operation and maintenance of swimming pools.
