Community Preservation Act Committee

The Community Preservation Act (CPA) was enacted by legislation to provide dedicated funding for preservation of open space, historic resources and community housing. CPA funding is provided through a local real estate tax surcharge and a statewide Registry of Deeds surcharge. Easton adopted the CPA in 2001. For more information CPA and how it works, click here.

Easton’s voters adopted the CPA because they recognized the importance of preservering the treasures that comprise Easton’s character and contribute to our quality of life.

The Community Preservation Committee is now accepting applications for FY2013 funding under the Community Preservation Act.  All applications should be submitted no later than December 30, 2011 at 12:30 pm to the Planning and Community Development Department., Town Offices, 136 Elm St. Applications received by this date will be taken under consideration for the 2012 May Annual Town Meeting. Click here for the application.

2012 Projects -
The Community Preservation Committee reviewed applications for projects for fiscal year 2012. These projects were submitted for vote at the Annual Town Meeting held on May 16, 2011 at the Oliver Ames High School. All proposed projects were accepted at Town Meeting.

Since adopting the CPA, Easton's CPA funds have been used to acquire open space, construct playgrounds, preserve historically significant structures and protect community housing. For a list of previously funded projects, click the box below.
