Funding Priorities
The Easton Cultural Council supports local public programs that promote education, diversity and excellence in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences in Easton. The ECC has an important role in insuring that cultural opportunities are made accessible to all segments of the community including youth, elders, and the handicapped. Each year the Easton Cultural Council receives a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and distributes these funds. The council reviews all applications and determines awards with the goal of partially supporting programs and events that are deemed to be most beneficial to Easton residents. The amount Easton receives each year is published in local newspapers & on the town's website in early September and applications must be postmarked or received by October 15th. The amount available for distribution for FY 2011 is $4816.
Local Guidelines
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants can be:
1. Arts, humanities or interpretive science organizations
2. Individuals including artists, science educators, historians, writers or other humanists, parents, community members, etc .
3. Community organizations including but not limited to schools, social service organizations, business and civic groups, neighborhood centers, youth, senior and family associations, etc. Incorporated organizations must be nonprofit; unincorporated associations must have a nonprofit purpose.
FUNDING PRIORITIES
The purpose of the Easton Cultural Council is to support local public programs that promote access, education, diversity and excellence in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences in Easton. Preference will be given to Easton performances, events, artists and organizations based in Easton.
TIMELINE

APPLICATION PROCESS
1. All applications must be on the current application as posted on the Cultural Council website: http://www.mass-cultural.org and be typed or word-processed. Include the original application and one set of support materials (resumes of key personnel, organizational brochures, letters of support/commitment, artist samples, etc.).
2. Answer questions clearly, simply and as completely as space allows. One additional letter-size sheet of paper is allowed.
3. The budget portion of the application is divided into Project Expenses and Project Income. This must be completed and both totals must be the same.
4. Completed applications must be postmarked no later than October 15, 2008.
FUNDING
1. Payments are made on a reimbursement basis only. Funds are provided for projects taking place from July of the current year until December of the following year.
2. Reimbursements may take 8 to 10 weeks.
3. Applicants will receive a reimbursement form to be used for the payment request. Final reimbursement will not be made until the project is completed. This form can also be accessed through this link: http://www.massculturalcouncil.org/contracts/lccreim.pdf
4. Due to limited funding from the state, the Council may award only partial amounts.
5. PASS grants will not be funded at this time.
6. If your organization is denied and you feel that the decision was in error, there is an appeal process. The information regarding this process will be included with the denial letter that you will receive in December/January.
ADVERTISING
All advertising for a funded project must acknowledge the support of the Easton Cultural Council by a written or verbal credit statement or by use of the Massachusetts Cultural Council logo available from the MCC website – massculturalcouncil.org. Failure to do so will jeopardize future funding.
