Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes

May 17, 2004

 

The Board of Selectmen met this evening at the Oliver Ames High School, 100 Lothrop Street, Room #3 with Chair Colleen Corona presiding.  Also in attendance were Gerard Marsan, John Haederle, Colleen Less, Charles King and Town Administrator Martha White. (7:00pm)

 

Minutes

On Marsan’s motion, seconded by Haederle, the board voted 3-0-2 to approve Executive Session Minutes dated 3/8/04.

 

Memorial Day Parade

White announced the Memorial Day Parade which will be held on 5/31/04 beginning at 2pm.

 

Fire Truck Bid Award

Chief Tom Stone was present.  White referred to the contracting specifically noting that the funding had been appropriated at a prior town meeting. Less suggested an amendment to reflect wording to require a certificate of insurance.  It was agreed to incorporate the language into the contract.

On Haederle’s motion, seconded by Marsan, the board voted unanimously to approve the contract as amended by Less.

 

Norfolk County Mutual Aid

Stone spoke of the proposal.

On Less’ motion, seconded by King, the board voted unanimously to approve the agreement.

 

Public Participation

None

 

FY’05 Budget Discussion

White referred to the revised Capital Budget recommendation as attached. 

White referred to budget change memo #2.  See attached.  The board discussed the Veterans budget and its need for revisions. 

On Marsan’s motion, seconded by King, the board voted unanimously to approve the revised budget in the amount of $157,459.

 

Annual Town Meeting Warrant Review

Town Counsel Gary Brackett was present.  White distributed updates to the briefing book.

Article 6

On Marsan’s motion, seconded by Haederele, the board voted unanimously to approve Article 6/.

Article 8

On Marsan’s motion, seconded by Haederle, the board voted unanimously to approve Article 8.

Articles 39-47

On Less’ motion, seconded by Haederle, the board voted unanimously to approve articles 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47.

 

White referred to the citizen petitions and noted no reason for the TA or Selectmen to speak on these articles.

 

Article re: budget

Town Moderator Dick Dailey noted the need to postpone voting on the budget discussion in order to meet the requirements of a joint meeting with the Finance Committee.  A continued town meeting date was discussed 5/25/04.

White distributed a list of her priorities to take place after town meeting as the preparation of the budget and town meeting has taken up most of her time over the last few months.

 

On Haederle’s motion, seconded by King, the board voted unanimously to adjourn at 6:35pm.
