International Association of Fire Fighters Memorial Observance
Paul Brophy was born April 27, 1937, youngest of 9 children. He grew up in the then rural Easton, Massachusetts and married his high school sweet heart, Patricia Hickey. He was the loving father of five children. He joined the Easton Fire Department in 1969. In the 1970's he became a founding member of Easton Firefighters Association, Local 2790 of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). He served as president of Local 2790 and was active in contract negotiations, serving on the Local 2790 bargaining committee. Firefighter Brophy suffered a burst aneurysm shortly after returning from a house fire, March 22, 1983. He died from his injuries on October 23, 1986. Paul exemplified public service. As well as being a strong union advocate and leader, Paul remained a dedicated citizen and public servant, giving the ultimate sacrifice in service to his hometown of Easton, Massachusetts.
