TOWN OF EASTON
Wiring Inspector/Local Inspector/Zoning Code Enforcement Officer

The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of Wiring Inspector/Local Inspector/Zoning Code Enforcement Officer, full time 40 hours per week.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:  Electrician License required; 5 years’ experience in the supervision of electrical systems installed for residential, commercial and industrial construction recommended.  Certified as a local inspector or have the qualifications for the position of local inspector pursuant to MGL c. 143, sec.3 and 780 CMR and have the ability to obtain that certification within 18 months of hire. Five years’ experience in the supervision of building construction or design or any combination of education and experience which would confer equivalent knowledge and ability as determined by the board. Candidate shall also have a general knowledge of the quality and strength of building materials; a general knowledge of the accepted requirements for building construction, fire prevention, light, ventilation and safe exit; and a general knowledge of other equipment and materials essential for safety, comfort and convenience of the occupants of a building or structure, and the energy requirements.

Candidate must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and the successful candidate must provide proof of an acceptable driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Some of the job responsibilities include the examining of plans for residential, commercial and industrial building construction or alteration for compliance with the MA State Building Code, local bylaws; issues electrical and building permits; performs related inspections to ensure compliance with same. Enforces State Building Code, town zoning and sign bylaws. Performs annual inspections of restaurants, liquor establishments, schools and places of assembly and other facilities as required.

This is a union position and the hourly rate of pay is $28.305 per hour ($58,874.40 annual salary) with excellent benefits. Full salary range is $58,874.40 – $77,683.84.
