Easton’s Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) risk level raised to High
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced today that Easton’s Risk level has been raised to High based on the presence of EEE positive mammal biting mosquitoes in Raynham and their proximity to the Hockamock Swamp. With this Risk level change comes the recommendation that all outdoor activities be cancelled in accordance with the attached calendar as the mosquitoes most likely to transmit EEE infection are likely to be out searching for food (an animal to bite) at dusk.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind the public that using mosquito repellent, covering exposed skin with clothing and avoiding outdoor activity between dusk and dawn are all ways to help reduce mosquito exposure risk.
