The AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities encourages communities to prepare for the rapid aging of the U.S. population by paying increased attention to eight domains of community life: housing, transportation, social participation, respect and social inclusion, civic participation and employment, communication and information, community support and health services, and outdoor space and building, with the ultimate goal of the program being that Easton is better equipped to be a community in which people participate in activities, are connected to their neighbors, remain healthy and active, and feel they belong—no matter their age.
Easton was accepted in to the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities and the Select Board created an Age Friendly Advisory Committee (AFAC) and adopted a committee charge in July of 2019.
