PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW
This project is intended to address deteriorated pavement and multi-modal accommodation through reconstruction of the roadway (minor widening) to provide bicycle accommodation in addition to reconstructed sidewalks and extensions. The project is 2 miles in length. A traffic signal is proposed at the Depot Street/Center Street/Porter Street intersection. The project also includes drainage upgrades, a new water main, and new pavement markings and signs.

The Town of Easton initiated the design of this project in 2011 and funded the design and land takings necessary. The construction of this project is funded by a combination of Federal and State funding administered through the Old Colony Metropolitan Planning Organization. MassDOT is responsible for the construction of this project. The contractor for this project is RJV Construction Corporation of Canton, MA.
The contractor has indicated that their proposed sequence of operations involves utility work during the 2021 construction season followed by road and sidewalk paving in the 2022 construction season.
A minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained on Route 123 at all times during work hours. Traffic management will consist of standard temporary traffic control operations utilizing advanced warning signs and police details. Town-approved detours will also be utilized when work does not permit directional traffic or the safe passage of vehicles.
Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. Through traffic is encouraged to utilize Foundry Street (Rt. 106) and Washington Street (Rt. 138) as an alternate route.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency.
