TOWN OF EASTON
Administrative Assistant – Fire Department
(Part Time 21 Hours per week)

The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of part time Administrative Assistant for the Easton Fire Department.  

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, five years’ experience in administrative work including a strong financial background; Associates Degree preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience. 

The Administrative Assistant performs a variety of general administrative work. Duties include but are not limited to providing service to the Fire Chief, Fire Department personnel, general public and other municipal departments; prepares and reviews ambulance reports resolving issues with the ambulance billing company; serves as a Public Records Access Officers for the department; assists with the Sharps Disposal Program for residents; assists with the coordination of departmental Injured on Duty cases; assists with updating the Fire Department’s website and provides assistance with the Community Emergency Response Team and shelter.  Candidate must possess excellent computer skills, and be able to learn quickly. This is a non union position and the rate of pay is $26.17 per hour with excellent benefits.

TOWN OF EASTON 
Benefits & Grant Navigator
for Federal and State Grant Funds

 The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of Benefits and Grant Navigator, part time, approximately 20-30 hours per week. The position is grant funded and is expected to run through December 31, 2024 unless extended or as funding permits.

The purpose of this position is to increase awareness and accessibility to financial assistance, benefits and grants for Easton residents, businesses and civic groups, especially those temporary or novel programs authorized under the American Rescue Plan (ARPA) and other related COVID-19 economic recovery programs on the state and federal level. The Benefits and Grant Navigator is responsible for assisting individuals in understanding and enrolling in the benefits.

Duties include but are not limited to  keeping informed through research and independent study of new programs, benefits and legislation that may affect benefit availability; creating, maintaining, identifying and promoting public facing website and other resources available to residents and businesses; working with  municipal and community groups to increase awareness and access to programs; conducting basic assessment of individuals eligibility for benefits and programming; makes referrals to appropriate agencies; tracks and monitors progress of applications; assists with scheduling of appointments and addressing transportation and communication obstacles; makes home visits as necessary; attends and schedules public information workshops; attends and participates in required educational programs and staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:   Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred or demonstrated and significant experience in working with case management, public benefits screening protocols and/or grant writing required, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a Certified Application Counselor, SHIP/SHINE Counselor.  Possession of a valid Class D Driver’s License required. The successful candidate must provide proof of an acceptable driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

This is a non-union, hourly grant funded position with excellent benefits and Step 1 is $29.44 per hour; anticipated hiring range is $29.44 – $32.51 per hour DOQ.

TOWN OF EASTON 
Community Outreach Liaison/Mental Health Counselor

 The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of Community Outreach Liaison/Mental Health Counselor, full time, 40 hours per week. The incumbent will be the first to hold this position in Easton, and will have the exciting opportunity to shape the trajectory of this critical community program serving vulnerable and marginalized populations as it is developed and implemented alongside Administration, Police, and Health. The incumbent will be required to work occasional evening and weekend hours. Weekday hours may be adjusted depending on the needs in any given week. 

The purpose of this position is to improve service to the community, especially in situations where the Easton Police Department responds to incidents involving persons with Mental Illness (MI), Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Co-occurring Mental Illness Substance Use disorders (CMISU). This position will lead the collaboration between mental health professionals and law enforcement to promote effective strategies to identify and effectively support persons with MI, SUD, CMISU reducing the risk to law enforcement, the individual and the public.

This position will focus on providing support tailored to the behavioral and mental health needs of the individual, and will provide ongoing, non-emergency case management and follow up services to vulnerable populations in Easton working collaboratively with the Community Outreach Officer Unit of the Easton Police Department, the Fire/EMS Department, and the Department of Health and Community Services.

Duties include but are not limited to assisting Police, Fire, EMS and Health and Community Services in identifying and assisting those in the community in need of services; provides de-escalation and assessment of immediate behavioral health symptom and needs; refers individuals to appropriate medical, psychiatric, housing and or other behavioral health services organizations; tracks relevant case referrals and program/patient follow up; attends professional development opportunities and community meetings.   

Minimum Qualifications:  Licensed Social Worker, Masters in Social Work strongly preferred. Experience in counseling, advocacy and/or case management for individuals with Mental Illness, Substance Use Disorder and Co-occurring Mental Illness Substance Use disorder required with a minimum of three years’ experience preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification in CPR and First Aid preferred.  Possession of a valid Class D Driver’s License required. The successful candidate must provide proof of an acceptable driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

This is a non-union, hourly and overtime eligible, grant-funded position with excellent benefits and Step 1 is $33.12 per hour; anticipated hiring range is $33.12 - $36.57 per hour ($68,895 - $76,072 if annualized) DOQ.
