                                                   DIRECTOR OF PLANNING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
 

The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified, dynamic, and enthusiastic individual to lead the Department of Planning & Economic Development; full time, 40 hours per week.  

Easton is in the midst of exciting planning and economic development initiatives in connection with the community master plan Envision Easton, with multiple priority development districts advancing major sewer, water, and transportation infrastructure projects leveraging public private partnerships, MassWorks grants, regional TIP funding, and TIF / DIF district programs. An early adopter of CPA and one of the Commonwealth’s first Housing Choice Communities, Easton strives to stay current with best planning practices and to proactively address the long term strategic needs of the community while also prioritizing historical and community preservation for its many architectural and open space assets. Easton has a proud history of volunteerism with an engaged community and active board and committee participation, with the Planning Department staffing eight or more committees of more than forty volunteers. 

The next Director of Planning & Economic Development must be a highly effective communicator and facilitator who can engage diverse stakeholders and activate volunteer committees and constituents around shared community priorities. Proven experience with successful economic development planning and project execution, particularly for mixed use and redevelopment projects, is preferred. Familiarity with regional and state planning initiatives and tools such as Housing Choice, 40B LIP projects, TIF/DIF Districts, CPA programming, Cultural Districts, regional TIP processes, and other current programs is highly desirable. Experience leading, developing and managing personnel is key. 

Duties include but are not limited to performing professional, technical, managerial and administrative work in administering planning and land use controls, and coordinating and shaping both the short and long range physical, social and economic development needs of the town. Coordinates and pursues the town’s economic development initiatives. 

Desired Minimum Qualifications:  Master’s Degree in community planning or related field and at least five years’ experience in municipal planning employing land use law, land use regulations, real estate law; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. American Institute of Certified Planners designation preferred. The successful candidate must possess a valid Class D Motor Vehicle Driver’s License and provide proof of an acceptable driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.  

This is a union position with a competitive starting salary DOQ and excellent benefits.  Salary range is $84,181.76 - $111,076.16.

TOWN OF EASTON
OPERATIONS MANAGER – WATER DIVISION

The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of Operations Manager for the Easton Water Division to supervise the overall administration and direction of the Water Division’s operations; full time, 40 hours per week. Expected start date January 6, 2020.

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree and at least seven years of related experience in water supply, treatment and distribution programs, of which at least two years have been at management/supervisory level; Possession of Class III Drinking Water Operator’s License (Combined (3 Treatment and 3 Distribution); or any equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must possess a valid Class D Motor Vehicle Driver’s License and provide proof of an acceptable driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Duties include but are not limited to performing a wide variety of very responsible administrative responsibilities dealing with the Water Division’s operations. In conjunction with the Director of Public Works, establishes priorities for division operations, coordinating short and long range planning of the division needs; implements the Massachusetts DEP and EPA federal safe drinking water act regulations; works to provide safe, clean drinking water and adequate supply and pressure for public safety.  This is a union position with a competitive starting salary DOQ and excellent benefits.  Salary range is $90,889.76 - $119,924.48.

TOWN OF EASTON
POLICE DEPARTMENT
COMMUNICATIONS DISPATCHER

The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of Communications Dispatcher, 40 hours per week. Additional applications will also be accepted for other Dispatcher positions which may become available including part time and diem.

Minimum Qualifications:  High School graduation or equivalent plus one year of experience in a general clerical position involving working with the public; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification of C.J.I.S system user and certification in Enhanced 911 systems through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required.  Previous experience as a Public Safety Dispatcher is preferred.

Duties include but are not limited to receiving 911 emergency phone calls, business phone calls, radio dispatching for Police, Fire and EMS, operating the IMC dispatch computer system, record keeping and other related tasks.  The position requires the candidate to work any one of three shifts, including holidays, nights, weekends and overtime as needed.  The position is a union position and compensation is $20.31 per hour with excellent benefits as well as shift differentials.  Part time positions are also union positions, per diem positions are not union and do not include a benefits package.
