Town of Easton Employment Application

TOWN OF EASTON

Assistant Town Clerk (Full Time 35 Hours per week)    

The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of full time Assistant Town Clerk. The Assistant Town Clerk performs a variety of administrative, responsible clerical and public assistance duties to provide support in the operations of the Town Clerk’s Office.

High School graduation or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred, 3 years’ experience in responsible clerical or administrative position; municipal experience, experience with elections, strong customer service background preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate must be or have the ability to become a Massachusetts Notary Public. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing general information to the public, issuing licenses, permits and certificates, swearing in officials, tracking boards and committees, posts meetings and schedules meeting rooms, collection & turnover of fees, maintaining legal records, vital records, planning & zoning filings, and participation in all phases of elections/town meetings, including voter registration, census data management and certification of nomination papers and petitions.

Candidate must possess strong communication & customer service skills; excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task & produce detailed work; must have strong computer skills, including intermediate to advance excel knowledge and comfort with multiple database management programs. Must be or become a Notary Public within 90 days of appointment.

This is a union position and the rate of pay is $27.936 per hour.

TOWN OF EASTON

Principal Clerk – Town Clerk’s Office
(part time – 21 hours per week)

The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of part time Principal Clerk for the Town Clerk’s Office.

High School graduation or equivalent and one-year experience in responsible clerical position; experience with elections, municipal and strong customer service background preferred or any combination of education and experience. Candidate must be or have the ability to become a Massachusetts Notary Public   

The Principal Clerk performs a variety of general clerical work, such as processing of permits, vital records, board and committee compliance documents, dog licenses and working within the voter/election registration system. Candidate must possess excellent computer, customer service and communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task are crucial. Additional hours may be required during election seasons.  This is a union position and the rate of pay is $25.313 per hour with excellent benefits.

  TOWN OF EASTON   

  LAND USE / ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNER

The Town of Easton is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of Land Use/ Environmental Planner, full time, 40 hours per week. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, engineering, planning or related field. Five years’ experience in environmental management, municipal planning employing land use law, land use regulations and environmental law; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid Class D Driver’s License required. The successful candidate must provide proof of an acceptable driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Responsibilities include interpreting, administering and making recommendations to Conservation Commission relative to provisions of state and local wetlands protection laws and regulations; assisting with conservation land management and acquisition; interpreting community plans, laws, bylaws, and regulations governing and protecting agricultural land; identifying and helping guide policy to address impacts of climate change. Works under the direction of the Director of Planning & Economic Development. Regular attendance at evening meetings is required. This is a union position and compensation is $35.285 per hour, $73,392.80 annually based on a 40-hour work week; full salary range is $73,392.80 – $96,840.64 with excellent benefits.
