Open Space & Recreation Plan

The 2017 update of Easton's Open Space and Recreation Plan has been submitted to the Board of Selectmen, Planning & Zoning Board and Conservation Commission for review and comment. The objective of the OSRP is to define the town’s recreational needs and its objectives for providing and protecting open space.

The OSRP is a seven-year plan that projects the town’s recreational needs; documents the natural resources found within the town’s open space; and defines specific goals and action steps for meeting the town's needs for recreation and natural resource protection. The Plan serves as a guidance and reference document when the town is making decisions about land use, land protection or addressing other concerns relating to conservation, agriculture, and recreation.

A current DCR[1] approved plan is required for a town to be eligible for certain financial grants. In the past Easton has benefited from such grants to help with land purchases for open space preservation, mostly recently being the Trustees of Reservations acquisition of the Governor Ames Estate.

A copy of the plan is available here. Comments may be forwarded to
