Town of Easton Completes Bylaw Resubmittal Project and Publishes Updated Town Code

For the first time since 2008, the Town of Easton has published an up-to-date Town Code including all bylaws adopted by Town Meeting and approved by the Attorney General. The newly published eCode, available at, contains all bylaws adopted through October 16, 2017, and will be routinely updated following all future Town Meetings. This new format is text searchable, making it easier than ever before for residents and businesses to locate rules, regulations and bylaws governing the Town of Easton.

In October 2016, the Town of Easton was notified by the Attorney General that Town Meeting approved bylaws adopted between 2008 and 2016 had not been submitted for review in accordance with M.G.L. c. 40 s. 32. Town leadership reacted swiftly, bringing a Special Act to Town Meeting in November 2016 to remedy the non-submittal of over 70 bylaw adoptions and amendments spanning the eight year period. Easton’s legislative delegation supported this Special Act and it was adopted by the Commonwealth to allow the Town to submit for retroactive approval all bylaws impacted. “It was a community effort from start to finish,” says Town Administrator Connor Read, who was appointed as Acting Town Clerk in November 2016 to lead the now concluded bylaw recovery process, “local and state elected officials, town meeting voters and staff worked in concert to address a real challenge, and I am thrilled that Town Clerk Danielle Sicard picked up the torch on this project from her first day in Easton and has seen this through to its completion.”
