Vaccine Availability Update - Phase 2 Group 2 (65+, 2+ Comorbidities) Begins Tomorrow (2.18) - State Ends Support for Municipal Vaccine Clinics effective March 1.
Today Governor Baker announced that beginning February 18, 2021, the Commonwealth will enter Phase 2 Step 2 and residents over the age of 65 and those with two+ comorbidities will be eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines. All eligible Easton residents should utilize the Commonwealth’s website to locate vaccine appointments – www.mass.gov/covidvaccine.
The Administration has also decided that effective March 1, 2021, the State will no longer provide new vaccine doses for municipal clinics. The only exception will be for the 20 communities identified as disproportionately impacted by the pandemic by the State (does not include Easton). The Town of Easton was able to run two very successful clinics for seniors in the previous two weeks, in addition to clinics for first responders, but did not receive a vaccine allocation this week and we do not expect that we will receive an allocation next week. If we do receive any new doses next week, we will call those residents currently on our vaccine wait list. Easton will still receive 2nd doses from the State for any residents who received a 1st dose from us in recent weeks – so if you have already been scheduled for a follow up clinic, we will still serve your second dose.
We regret having to share this disappointing news with you and will likely be eliminating our vaccine wait list feature in the coming days / weeks so as to bring the Town in step with the State’s mandate that we end our municipal clinic operations. Our staff will send this information to the contact information we have on file for our seniors on the wait list. If you or a loved one are on our list, we encourage you to seek an appointment at a state-identified site using www.mass.gov/covidvaccine. We are proud to have assisted many of our Phase 1 and 2 populations to date, and the Town is proud of its public health, fire, and paramedical personnel, public works and admins who helped stage sites, and wonderful volunteers and community members who assisted with clinics to date.
Residents are encouraged to utilize the state’s website as well as dialing Massachusetts 2-1-1 to book an appointment at a state-identified clinic or pharmacy. Additionally, appointments may be available through CVS on Roche Brothers Way.
The Town of Easton remains committed to supporting our residents as they seek vaccine opportunities. Please us the dedicated COVID phone line at 508-230-0783 or the COVID email at firstname.lastname@example.org to request additional resources and supports. Thank you and stay healthy.
